Museum Maintenance Technician/Interpreter - Summer Employment

The Town of Petawawa, in partnership with the Petawawa Heritage Village, is currently seeking a responsible, self-motivated individual to maintain the museum sites and grounds and to provide tours of the museum.

Description of Position:

  • Responsible for opening and closing the site, maintaining the museum grounds including gardens and maintaining buildings, structures, and artifacts
  • Cleaning and painting of the buildings and equipment/displays on site
  • Welcomes visitors to the Heritage Village and provides educational guided tours
  • Responsible for ticket sales, managing the gift store, keeping track of attendance
  • Encourages survey completion, handles information requests and promotes membership and volunteerism

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Experience in grounds maintenance and gardening
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Experience handling cash
  • An interest in local history, an asset.
  • Note: an extensive orientation and training will be provided to the successful candidate

Hours of Work:

  • June - August 2024 (10 weeks)
  • 21 hours per week, weekends required

Rate of Pay:  $20.00 per hour.
