The Town of Petawawa reminds residents that regulations are in effect to secure a continued and abundant supply of water to our customers. By-law 293/04 states;
In order to ensure that consumption demands of all residents can be met,
OUTDOOR WATERING (such as lawns) IS LIMITED AS FOLLOWS:
- The only times you are allowed to use water outdoors is between 6:00 am to 9:00 am (morning) AND between 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm (evening).
- If your address ends in an even number (e.g. 2-4-6), you can water on even days (e.g. May 12-14-16 etc.).
- If your address ends in an odd number (e.g. 1-3-5), you can water on odd days (e.g. May 11-13-15).
Contravention of this rule could result in a substantial fine.
If you have newly laid sod or grass seed, you may water at any time for a period not to exceed fourteen (14) days from the date the sod or seed was installed. Although By-law 293/04 states you may water at "any time", it is preferable for residents to adhere to watering between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. for the fourteen (14) day period. Notification must be made to the Town Office at 613-687-5536 to advise when you plan to water the new sod or seed; failure to do so may result in a fine being issued contrary to By-law 293/04.
The Town thanks you for your continued co-operation in this matter and encourages further conservation where possible.
