The Town of Petawawa Public Works Department will be overseeing the reconstruction of one (1) kilometre of Industrial Avenue. The construction area begins at the intersection of Black Bay Road and Industrial Avenue, and ends at Labine Crescent. The current road width will be increased to allow for a one (1) metre paved shoulder. The construction will begin July 2, 2024, and will involve the following phases:
- Ditching and entrance culvert replacements in specific locations as per conditional survey completed prior to project commencement
- Pulverizing of existing roadway to a granular condition
- Grading and granular preparation of the roadway will follow, along with road paving, shouldering, and reinstatement of those driveway ends affected by the construction
- Pavement markings will be completed at the end of the construction project
- The project is to be completed by July 19, 2024
The construction site will remain open to local traffic through all phases of construction. All residents and businesses, along this section of Industrial Avenue will have access to their respective driveways throughout the construction process. Garbage and recycling collection will not be affected.
Residents/business owners should expect minor traffic delays, some dust, and some additional noise due to heavy equipment and trucks. The Town is responsible for dust control during the construction process, and the site will be inspected regularly by Public Works staff throughout the construction process.
