The Town of Petawawa mourns the loss of a Renfrew County community champion, Jamie Bramburger
It is with profound sadness that the Town of Petawawa receives the news of the sudden passing of Jamie Bramburger, a passionate community leader in his hometown of Pembroke whose dedication, compassion, and steadfast commitment deeply moved countless lives.
On behalf of the members of Petawawa Town council and entire staff of the Town of Petawawa, we would like to extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Jamie’s family and all who had the honour of knowing him and working alongside him.
Jamie was a staunch advocate and promoter of education in his community and most recently served as Interim Dean of Algonquin College. He played a pivotal role in the effort to build Algonquin College’s Waterfront Campus, creating opportunities for generations of students and staff.
He was a pillar of the local community and deeply committed to the betterment of all aspects of society in which he generously donated his time. He made numerous, remarkable contributions in many areas; from his roles on many local boards, to his passionate involvement with the Pembroke Lumber Kings and other broadcasting productions with Cogeco and Your TV, to his work with the Algonquin College Speaker Series and his many historical literary works that promoted and preserved local history. He also co-founded the Jason Blaine Charity Concert and Golf Tournament, which has now raised more than $1,000,000 to support local organizations and initiatives. Jamie’s tremendous impact and legacy will not soon be forgotten and Petawawa joins the entire Ottawa Valley in mourning Jamie’s sudden passing.
In recognition of his lifetime of achievements and contributions to the Ottawa Valley, Petawawa Town Council will honour him with a moment of silence at the March 17th meeting of council.
