The Town of Petawawa  is currently seeking applications for a temporary Labourer/Operator position for the Public Works Department to assist with general maintenance of parks, storm ponds and roadsides.

Description of Position:

• Uses and maintains equipment such as lawnmowers and whipper snippers and articulating sidewalk machine
• Cleans and removes garbage and debris from parks
• Washes vehicles and assists with general clean up of the Public Works garage
• Carries out assignments using a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment, as well as power and hand tools

Qualifications:

• Class G driver’s license required, DZ license is an asset
• Previous experience using an articulating sidewalk machine is an asset
• Ability to operate a variety of machinery and equipment safely and efficiently
• Knowledge of lawn/road maintenance activities and safety procedures
• Ability to handle physical demands of the position

Rate of Pay:

• $19.98 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
• Regular hours of work are 40 hours per week
• Overtime and unusual hours may be required to handle Public Works emergencies and poor weather conditions
• Option to join pension plan
