Agenda date: July 15, 2024
Recommendation:
That Council approves the award of Tender PW-10-2024, One (1) Fully Electric Crossover Vehicle, to Urban Ford in the amount of $59,938.00 plus HST;
And since the Town of Petawawa is eligible for the Federal Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles (iZEV) Program, Urban Ford will deduct this amount from the Total Tender Amount of $67,729.94 inclusive of HST.
Background:
The tender was prepared and advertised in a local paper and on our website. Six (6) firms requested tender packages and one (1) firm submitted a complete tender package on the closing date of July 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
On October 25, 2021, staff report PW-28-21 was brought before Council. Council committed to a zero-emission fleet of half ton pickup trucks by 2035. The purchase of an electric crossover vehicle for use by staff at Town Hall is the first step in fulfilling this commitment and will serve as a foundation for future EV purchases.
Contractor and Tender Price (excluding HST):
Urban Ford - $59,938.00
Financial Implication:
The approved 2024 budget for the purchase of the electric vehicle is $60,000.00.
The model quoted is a 2024 Ford Mach-E which is eligible for a $5,000.00 rebate under the Federal Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles (iZEV) Program. Provincial, territorial, and municipal governments with fleets are eligible for up to 10 incentives per calendar year under the iZEV Program. Urban Ford will deduct this amount from the total tender amount of $67,729.94 inclusive of HST.
Additionally, there is $12,000.00 budgeted for the installation of a level two charger at the Town Hall. A recent estimate for this installation is in the range of $3,000.00. Savings realized through the installation of the level two charger will be leveraged for the purchase of the electric vehicle.
