At its meeting of May 21, 2024 Council of the Corporation of the Town of Petawawa approved the award of Tender PW-09-2024 as follows:

That Council approves the award of Tender PW-09-2024, New Office Addition Public Works Garage, to the lowest bidder being Wade General Contracting Ltd. in the amount of $1,825,203.00 plus HST; and

That Council approves a 10% contingency allowance in the amount of $182,520.30 on top of the tender award amount; and

That Council approves an additional $100,000.00 for the hydro service installation and activation.

Recommendation:
That Council approves the award of Tender PW-09-2024, New Office Addition Public Works Garage, to the lowest bidder being Wade General Contracting Ltd. in the amount of $1,825,203.00 plus HST; and

That Council approves a 10% contingency allowance in the amount of $182,520.30 on top of the tender award amount; and

That Council approves an additional $100,000.00 for the hydro service installation and activation.

Discussion:
The tender was prepared and advertised in a local paper and on our website. Eleven (11) firms requested tender packages and three (3) firms submitted complete tender packages on the closing date of May 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

Contractor and Tender Price (excluding HST):
Thomas Cavanagh Construction Ltd. - $2,144,800.00
Wade General Contracting Ltd. - $1,825,203.00
William Sons (11425579 Canada Inc.) - $2,153,000.00

Financial Implication:
The estimated construction budget for this project was $2,746,695.00, excluding HST, and has been included in the 2024 budget.

Staff is requesting a 10% contingency allowance in the amount of $182,520.30 to be used in the event of any material cost overruns experienced during the term of construction.

There will be an additional fee for hydro installation and activation which is not included in the tender price. This fee is estimated at $100,000.00.
