Commercial Structure Fire, 1011 Victoria Street

Petawawa, ON – On Wednesday February 17, 2021 at approximately 4:42 a.m., the Town of Petawawa Fire Department responded to a report of a working commercial fire at 1011 Victoria Street. Fire crews initiated an aggressive interior attack from the front and rear entrances of the building. It took approximately twenty minutes, ten firefighters and two pumper trucks to bring the fire under control. Garrison Petawawa Fire Department provided assistance with aerial apparatus and force. The fire was contained to one commercial establishment within the strip mall, with possible smoke extension to neighboring businesses. One firefighter was taken to hospital with possible smoke inhalation. Fire crews remain on scene checking for fire extension and overhaul operations. The cause of fire is currently under investigation. Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police, Renfrew County Paramedics, and Hydro One also attended the scene.
