The primary mission of the Petawawa Fire Department is to provide fire protection services and education programs to protect the lives and property of the residents in the municipality of the Town of Petawawa from the adverse effects of fires or exposures to dangerous situations/conditions created by man or nature.

We are able to accomplish our mission through the dedication of thirty six fire department members committed to providing excellent service to our community and to making a difference in the lives of the people we serve. We take pride in our service delivery and we use our training and skills to assist our residents, business partners and visitors on an average 160 calls for service per year. Our services have broadened over the years and our ability to respond to a variety of incidents speaks volumes of our desire to serve. We continue to evaluate the needs of the community and seek solutions to improved service.

Our Fire Prevention Branch seeks to prevent fires through an aggressive fire prevention program that minimizes fire risk through public education and enforcement. As we continue to grow as a community, the role of prevention becomes increasingly important to ensure a safe environment for the businesses and citizens of this community. You also can do your part by planning an escape route from your home, establishing a meeting place for your family once you are safely out and ensure that your home has at least one smoke alarm on every level of the home and outside all sleeping areas. “SMOKE ALARMS SAVE LIVES”
