Residential Structure Fire

Petawawa, ON – On Monday April 26, 2021 at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Town of Petawawa Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 6 New Street. Fire Crews were faced with fire exiting the picture window at the front of the structure on the street side. Fire crews initiated an aggressive interior attack and stopped forward progress. It took approximately twenty minutes, nineteen firefighters and two pumper trucks to bring the fire under control. The building suffered extensive damage to the inside and roof area. Fire Crews searched the building and rescued two family pets; no injuries to home owners or fire personnel reported. Fire crews remained on scene overnight checking for fire extension and overhaul operations. The cause of fire is currently under investigation. Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police, Renfrew County Paramedics, and Hydro One also attended the scene.
