Petawawa, ON – On Monday, July 3, 2023 at approximately 11:20 p.m., the Town of Petawawa Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 3478 Petawawa Boulevard. All occupants exited the building safely; there are no injuries. The fire is contained at this time; the department responded with 14 firefighters and three apparatus to bring the fire under control. Garrison Petawawa Fire Department provided assistance with aerial apparatus and force. Petawawa Boulevard is closed between Victoria Street and Bert Street; detours are posted. The public is asked to avoid the area and take alternate routes. Residents in the affected area (Bert Street, Harry Street, Algonquin Street, Park Drive etc.) are asked to keep their windows closed due to low lying smoke conditions. Fire crews will remain on scene throughout the day checking for fire extension and overhaul operations. The building is a total loss; the cause of the fire is currently under investigation and the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) has been notified. Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police, Renfrew County Paramedics, and Hydro One also attended the scene.
