BY-LAW 452/07
BEING A BY-LAW TO AMEND BY-LAW 303/04, A BY-LAW REQUIRING WASTE MANAGEMENT DIVERSION PROGRAMS AND COLLECTION OF SOURCE SEPARATED SOLID WASTE
WHEREAS Section 11 of the Municipal Act, S.O. 2001, c. 25, as amended, provides that a lower tier municipality and an upper tier municipality may pass by-laws respecting matters within the spheres of jurisdiction, including waste management matters;
AND WHEREAS Council of the Corporation of the Town of Petawawa is a partner in the Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre and is committed to the environmental mandated to “Walk Lightly on the Environment”;
AND WHEREAS Council of the Corporation of the Town of Petawawa deems it advisable to amend By-law 303/04 to include a provision prohibiting the scavenging of scrap metal and white goods during large item collection.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PETAWAWA AS FOLLOWS:
6 LARGE ITEM COLLECTION
(i) No person shall scavenge, pick over, interfere with, disturb, remove, or scatter any scrap material or white goods material set out for large item special collection.
(j) No waste generator shall place large item special collection material out for collection prior to 7:00 p.m. on the fourth (
4th) day preceding the designated collection.

This by-law shall come into force and take effect following third reading.
