The Town of Petawawa is currently seeking a staff resource to facilitate the Petawawa Container Market operations and experience and provide business support services. We are seeking a responsible, enthusiastic self-starter to provide a consistent presence at the market, facilitate retail services, support programming, and engage with the business community.
The successful candidate may work at the Petawawa Container Market and at the municipal Town Hall or other municipal facilities. The incumbent will act as a facilitator for market operations, preparing and animating workshops and play activities, and supporting activities, marketing, and engagements at the proposed sites. Excellent communication skills, organization and customer service focus are necessary to support the program objectives.
This position is dependent upon receipt of funding.
Description of Position:
• Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful service within the market space
• Process sales transactions accurately using the point of sale system
• Assist with product merchandising, restocking, pricing and display upkeep
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the retail and public-facing areas
• Support vendor inquiries; pre- and post-site operations
• Social media for market operations
• Facilitate the various programs and events at the market
• Update business registry entries with new or revised information as directed
• Verify data accuracy and flag incomplete or outdated records
• Assist in compiling business contact lists, basic reports or summaries
• Respond to general questions from businesses about registration processes
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Experience organizing and facilitating workshops, events and play activities
• Exceptional customer service, friendly and service-oriented attitude
• Self motivated and able to work independently
• Ability to operate a POS system, Microsoft and post on social media
• Physical ability to participate in site set up and tear down functions, including moving tables, chairs and bins of materials, and setting up tents and signage
• Current First Aid & CPR certification and a valid driver’s license are assets
Hours of Work:
• May 1 – June 29, 2026 (15 hours per week – one weekday, plus weekends)
• July 2 – August 31, 2026 (30 hours per week – Sundays and Mondays off)
• Fridays and Saturdays will align to facilitate market hours.
Rate of Pay: $18.41 per hour.
